The Assembly Line of Life

Do you feel like you are working on an assembly line just going through the motions of life with little satisfaction and enjoyment?

Welcome to “Thursdays with Cyn” where I share my personal thoughts to hopefully motivate and inspire you to take just one step closer towards your e-commerce entrepreneurial journey.

Today’s topic: The Assembly Line of Life

Ok Moms! I’m going to make a bold declaration:

You control the order in your household! You are probably on a schedule dictated by your family members.

You coordinate sports games, birthday parties, work duties, your husband, meals, cleaning, sick kids, school duties, homework and the list goes on!

How do you keep it all together? How do you get everything done? Feel like you are going crazy at times? Stressed to the max and feel overwhelmed? Do you feel like you are working on an assembly line just going through the motions of life with little satisfaction and enjoyment? Do you feel like you never have time for yourself?

Yep! Been there, done that!

When we give, give, give but never take time for ourselves… our mental and physical health suffers. We begin to resent things and the people we love because we become overwhelmed. This challenge isn’t just happening in your family life - it also flows over into your work like.

This rings true especially for entrepreneurs as well. We work alone so much that we are used to carrying all the burdens. But it doesn’t have to be that way. I challenge you to take a deep dive and look at your schedule.

Write down every single thing you do on a daily basis for a week.

Then review it all and look for ways to group things together or delete them off your list entirely.

Ask yourself - if this doesn’t get done - is anyone going to die?

If the answer is NO - scratch it off the list if it is causing you stress!

I know… easier said than done. But YOU are important.

Without you, your family - or your business - would not run smoothly! So you MUST take care of yourself first.

Think about what the flight attendants tell you during the emergency briefing before the plane takes off:

In case of loss of oxygen - put on your mask FIRST! THEN help other people. If you don’t take care of yourself FIRST - you will be of no value to others, whether in your personal life or in business.

Now here is my suggestion for you: Carve out 30 minutes a day for YOUCall it “mommy time” at home Or “creative time” at work.

Once you name it - others will respect it!

Find creative ways to multitask. If kids are doing homework – you have “mommy homework time” too and watch a training video.

Involve kids/family in your goals and let them visualize the possibilities and the benefits of what success can bring.

This is BIG - they don’t know how to dream or plan or set goals unless YOU show them and involve them in YOUR dreams and goals.

Give them chores to earn money for their own “business”. Delegate jobs to them so they become entrepreneurs themselves and learn the value of working to fulfill their own dreams and goals.

This is one of my favorites! Have a family “clean up” time - for 20 minutes, turn on some dance music really loud and everyone in the family runs around like crazy to clean up and put away clutter! When my kids were little, they loved this and didn’t view it as “work”. When I simply asked them to straighten up their rooms, the request was always met with groans, sad faces, and doom and gloom!

It’s all about how you approach things… Make it fun and you’ll have better success. Coordinate it all as if you are the production manager overseeing workers on an assembly line.

Learn the art of delegation. Do what you do best - get the job done - just work smarter and not harder!

Lastly - don’t feel guilty about taking your “mommy time” or “creative time” each day. There are 1440 minutes in a day - don’t you deserve just 30 of those by yourself to refresh & recharge & refocus?

Yes, you do!

Another suggestion -

As for your business - the BEST thing you can do for yourself is hire a virtual assistant.

I can hear you now… I can’t afford one!

The truth is - You can’t afford NOT having one!

If you just delegate 10 hours a week on tasks that anyone can do - that doesn’t require YOU to do it… you just gained 10 hours of creative time that you can use to GROW your business and help move you to CEO status level instead of always being the worker-bee.
